THE DULWICH MUSIC SHOP opened in 1985, the whim of Nigel Keates that Dulwich needed a Music Shop. This was an inspired guess; no market research had been conducted and neither partner had any business or retail experience.  The reaction was overwhelming: what had been intended as a part-time enterprise quickly became an eighteen hour-a-day struggle to keep abreast of demand. It was quite evident, even to the partners, that Dulwich needed a Music Shop!

In July 2010, Nigel Keates decided to (semi)-retire.

We continue to offer a comprehensive repair service for all Stringed, Woodwind and Brass instruments and a Bow Rehairing service. Repairs are normally carried out on the basis of a quotation; we will notify you of the cost before we carry out the repair - very novel.
